Regular Season Round 19: Santurtzi - Easo 64-56

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Santurtzi and 3rd placed Easo had identical 11-4 record. This time Santurtzi used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from San Sebastian 64-56 on Saturday night. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 17-7. But Easo won second period 17-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Santurtzi dominated on the defensive end, holding Easo to just 7 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Easo 36-25 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for forward Juan Torres (196-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 15 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Forward Mikel Sainz (195-95) helped adding 14 points and 6 rebounds. Santurtzi's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side forward Asier Azpeitia (192-98) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Mikel Sanz (195-99) scored 12 points. Santurtzi (12-4) moved-up to third place in Group A-A, which they share with Pielagos. Loser Easo dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Santurtzi will face Burgos (#7) on the road in the next round. Easo will play against BIOK2.COM OKE and hope to win that game.
