Regular Season Round 20: Paterna - Valencia II 64-70

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Paterna (7-6) was defeated at home by second ranked Valencia-2 (11-2) 70-64 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Paterna won third quarter 15-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Jon Galarza (193-97) who scored 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Luis Ferrando (185-96, college: Mount Olive) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Joaquin Rodenas (186-90) produced 20 points and 5 assists and power forward Yexian Rubio (197-86) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia-2 have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group E leader, which they share with Gandia. Paterna lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with six games lost. Valencia-2 will face bottom-ranked Aldaia (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Paterna will play against Sagunto (#9) in Gilet and hope to win that game.
