Regular Season Round 21: Sammic ISB - Valladolid 73-67

Bottom-ranked Sammic ISB managed to get a sixth victory, breaking the series of seven consecutive losses. This time newly promoted Sammic ISB won against eighth-ranked Blancos de Rueda in Azpeitia 73-67. It looked good early as Blancos de Rueda took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Sammic ISB had a 24-9 second period charge getting the lead and Blancos de Rueda was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-73. American guard Mo Evans (185-94, college: IPFW) stepped up and scored 15 points for the winners and point guard Iker Salazar (192-93) chipped in 4 points and 12 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American guard Henri Wade-Chatman (188-92, college: Edinboro) with 21 points and 5 rebounds and center Sergio De-La-Fuente (198-89) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sammic ISB (6-15) moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with CB Clavijo and Palma. Blancos de Rueda lost third consecutive game. Blancos de Rueda at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Araberri. Sammic ISB will play against league's second-placed CB Prat on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Blancos de Rueda will play against Leyma Basquet (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
