Regular Season Round 23: Carbajosa - Chantada 76-80

Rather predictable result when third ranked Chantada (14-6) beat on the road 6th ranked Carbajosa (10-10) 80-76 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Nigerian forward Jeffrey Solarin (193-92, college: Idaho St.) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Center Manuel Sanchez (207-81, college: Indian Hills CC) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. Trinidad and Tobago-Canadian center Richard Peters (211-93, college: CS Fullerton, agency: Dynamics Global Management) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and guard Gabriel Roman (185-97) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Chantada. They moved-up to second place in Group A-B, which they share with Gijon. Newly promoted Carbajosa dropped to the fifth position with ten games lost. Chantada will face league's second-placed Gijon on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Carbajosa will play against Ponferrada CDP and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
