Regular Season Round 24: Begastri - Lliria 63-75

Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Begastri (1-17) lost to eighth ranked Lliria (9-9) in Cehegin 63-75 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Lliria. Begastri was better in fourth quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for center Candido Matoso (207-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Forward David Guardia (200-90) contributed with 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Ruben Rodriguez (-90) replied with 16 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Alvaro Bernal added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Begastri. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Lliria have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place in Group E, which they share with Cartagena. Begastri lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 17 games lost. Lliria will face higher ranked Paterna (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Begastri will play against the league's second-placed UCAM Murcia II (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
