Regular Season Round 27: Girona Basquet - Barbera 63-62

Very predictable result when third ranked Girona Basquet (14-7) edged at home 11th ranked Barbera (7-14) 63-62 on Saturday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Barbera was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a good game for the former international power forward Alfonso Alzamora (206-79) who saved his team from a defeat with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Pau Juscafresa (198-97) contributed with 8 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Girona Basquet players scored in double figures. Point guard Ivan Llull (185-92) answered with 24 points and point guard Sergio Guardia (188-88) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Barbera. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Girona Basquet maintains third place in Group C-A with 14-7 record having just three points less than leader Vic. Loser Barbera keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Girona Basquet will face Sant Josep (#5) in Badalona in the next round. Barbera will play at home against Arenys (#6) and hope to win that game.
