No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Sant Josep (12-8) edged on the road 12th ranked Cantaires Tortosa (6-15) 85-84 on Sunday. Strangely Cantaires Tortosa outrebounded Sant Josep 43-30 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for guard Gerard Blat (181-97) who saved his team from a defeat with 18 points. Antonio Ruiz contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Sean McDonnell (203, college: Westmont) answered with 15 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Eric Weary (193-93, college: Houston) added 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) in the effort for Cantaires Tortosa. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sant Josep moved-up to fifth place in Group C-A, which they share with Tarragona and Arenys. Cantaires Tortosa lost their fourth game in a row. Cantaires Tortosa at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Sant Josep will face higher ranked Girona Basquet (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cantaires Tortosa will play against Roser (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
