Regular Season Round 28: Algeciras - Almeria 94-98

There was an upset when top-ranked Algeciras (18-5) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Almeria (14-8) 98-94 on Saturday. Almeria made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Cristian Ramon (-92) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and point guard Roberto Rueda (182-86) who added 28 points (made all of his fourteen free throws !!!) during the contest. Almeria's coach Raul Fernandez allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American Michael Murray (196-91, college: Coppin St.) responded with 30 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Austin Mofunanya (198, college: Pace) scored 19 points. Almeria have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Newly promoted Almeria maintains sixth position in Group D-Clasif with 14-8 record. Algeciras lost third consecutive game. Algeciras at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still keeps top place with five games lost. Almeria will face Cordobasket (#9) at home in the next round. Algeciras will play against CAM E.Soler (#5) in Melilla and hope to win that game.
