Regular Season Round 19: Archena - Gandia 71-58

There was a minor upset in Murcia where leader Gandia (15-2) was defeated by fourth ranked Archena (13-5) 71-58 on Saturday. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Strangely Gandia outrebounded Archena 50-37 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard David Alvarez (184-1996) fired 19 points for the winners. Juan Toledo (190-1996) chipped in 18 points. Forward Alejandro Terrades (196-2001) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and forward Unai Zamora (193-2001) added 7 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Gandia's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Archena moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Gandia still keeps top position with two games lost. Archena will meet Ontinet (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gandia will play against Calpe (#9) and hope to secure a win.
