Regular Season Round 9: Santander - Baskonia B 70-59

There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Baskonia B (3-7) was defeated on the road by thirteenth ranked Santander (3-7) 70-59 on Wednesday. Santander forced 20 Baskonia B turnovers. Mali Amadou Maiga (-2006) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and American point guard Destan Williams (175-1999, college: ASU, agency: 6th Man Basketball Agency) chipped in 18 points, 6 assists and 8 steals. The best for the losing side was Bulgarian Kaloyan Balkandzhiev (-2007) with 14 points and 5 rebounds and Slovenian forward Stefan Joksimovic (194-2008) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Baskonia B's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Santander moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with defeated Baskonia B. Santander will meet at home league's leader Valle de Egues in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Baskonia B will play against Burgos (#9) and hope to secure a win.
