Very important is a road loss of third ranked Girona (14-3) against tenth ranked Ferrol (8-9) on Sunday night. Visiting Girona was edged by Ferrol in a tough game in Ferrol 70-72. They made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Irish forward Claire Melia (190-1999, college: St.Joseph's) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Czech guard Julie Pospisilova (183-1999, college: Wisconsin) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. French swingman Mamignan Toure (183-1994) answered with 22 points and Australian power forward Chloe Bibby (185-1998, college: Maryland) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Girona. Newly promoted Ferrol maintains tenth place with 8-9 record. Girona at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They share it with Avenida. Ferrol will play against league's second-placed Avenida in Salamanca in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Girona will play at home against Gernika and hopes to get back on the winning track.
