Regular Season Round 17: Zamora - Al-Qazeres 72-58

Everything went according to plan when fourth rankedZamora (12-5) defeated at home 10th ranked Al-Qazeres (7-10) 72-58 on Saturday. Zamora forced 19 Al-Qazeres turnovers. Strangely Al-Qazeres outrebounded Zamora 43-27 including a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Sara Castro (173-1999, college: Colorado) nailed 14 points for the winning side and Zoe Hernandez (177-2001) accounted for 10 points and 4 assists. Four Zamora players scored in double figures. Portuguese forward Josephine Filipe (177-1995) came up with 27 points and 7 rebounds and Argentinian center Diana Cabrera (186-1993) added 15 points and 15 rebounds respectively for Al-Qazeres in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Zamora moved-up to third place, which they share with AzulMarino. Loser Al-Qazeres keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Zamora will meet at home Lima-Horta (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Al-Qazeres will play against Paterna (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
