There was no surprise in Las Palmas where 11th ranked Talavera (9-13) was defeated by sixth ranked La Matanza (14-8) 77-71 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. La Matanza had a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Alex Navas (199-2000) scored 28 points to lead the charge for the winners and center Miguel Gonzalez-Monje (200-1991) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard Alan Morchon (188-1999) responded with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Bosnian Sandro Gacic (201-1996) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Five Talavera players scored in double figures. La Matanza have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Getafe and La Roda. Talavera at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 13 games lost. They share it with 8 other teams. La Matanza will meet at home Guadalajara (#7) in the next round. Talavera will play against Alcala and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
