Regular Season Round 23: Joventut 2 - Azulejos 71-85

There was no surprise when 13th rankedJoventut 2 (7-16) lost to third ranked Azulejos (16-6) in Badalona 71-85 on Saturday. Azulejos looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Mouhamadou Ndiaye (202-2003) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds. American guard Zion Williams (193-1998, college: Gardner-Webb) accounted for 26 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Williams is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Center Ian Platteeuw (210-2007) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Pau Majoral (181-2005) added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Joventut 2 in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Azulejos . They maintain third place with 16-6 record having 3 victories less than leader El Pinar. Loser Joventut 2 dropped to the twelfth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Estudiantes and Caja Rural.
