Regular Season Round 25: El Pilar - Jovens 73-80

There was a small surprise in Valencia where fifth ranked Jovens (15-9) defeated 3rd placed El Pilar (16-7) 80-73 on Sunday. Jovens forced 19 El Pilar turnovers and outrebounded them 53-36 including 39 on the defensive glass. Center Jose Mate (200-2000) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and French Etienne Rene Capoue (-1988) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. Four Jovens players scored in double figures. At the losing side Marcos Berenguer (-2002) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and center Javier Mateo (200-1997) scored 7 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Jovens moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Quintanar. Loser El Pilar keeps the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Marbella. Jovens will meet at home Castello B (#8) in the next round. El Pilar will play against the league's second-placed Torrent (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
