There was no surprise when 13th rankedGijon (2-8) lost at home to eighth ranked Barakaldo (5-5) 79-71 on Monday. Senegalese Mareme Diop (-2003) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds to lead the effort and Ines Tomas supported her with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Barakaldo's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 15 points and 7 rebounds by Canadian guard Merissah Russell (183-2002, college: Louisville) did not help to save the game for Gijon . added 12 points and 5 rebounds for lost side.
