The game had a very big importance for second-rankedTarragona as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Tenerife Naut.) loss. Tarragona defeated one of their biggest challengers Castelldefels at home 89-73 . Tarragona shot 26 for 36 from the free-throw line, while Castelldefels only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Castelldefels 42-26 including 17 on the offensive glass. Castelldefels was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Marc Buscail (204-2003) notched 17 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Daniel Fernandez (181-1994) supported him with 20 points (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!). Four Tarragona players scored in double figures. Even 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists by forward Eric Manes (194-1987) did not help to save the game for Castelldefels . Pol Saiz (191-2002) added 18 points for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tarragona (12-2) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 7 other teams. Castelldefels at the other side dropped to the second place with five games lost. They share the position with 13 other teams.
