Very predictable result when fourth rankedMelilla (17-6) won against 10th ranked ISB (9-14) in Azkoitia 85-79 on Saturday. Melilla outrebounded ISB 41-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Clara Caceres (167-1997) who led the winners and scored 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. point guard Anne Senosiain (162-1997) accounted for 18 points for the winning side. Four Melilla players scored in double figures. Portuguese point guard Ines Vieira (170-2003, college: Utah) came up with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and French forward Elodie Lalotte (185, college: Boise St.) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for ISB in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Melilla . They maintain fourth place with 17-6 record. Loser ISB keeps the tenth position with 14 games lost. Melilla will meet at home bottom-ranked Barca CBS (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. ISB will play against Real Canoe (#15) in Madrid and hope to secure a win.
