There was no surprise when 13th ranked Arxil (5-17) lost to fourth ranked Cortegada (14-6) in Vilagarcia Arousa 49-65 on Saturday. American forward Christabel Ezumah (188, college: Alabama) notched a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and Danish forward Ellen Iversen (180-1997) supported her with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Even 9 points and 7 rebounds by point guard Maria Gonzalez (175-1998) did not help to save the game for Arxil. Forward Margarita Moreira (182-1995) added 11 points for lost side. Cortegada have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 14-6 record. Arxil lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Almeda and GMASB. Cortegada will meet UE Mataro (#5) on the road in the next round. Arxil will play against Lleida (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
