Valencia made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Zaragoza outrebounded Valencia 35-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. International point guard Elena Buenavida (174-2004) stepped up and scored 19 points for the winners and American-Bulgarian center Khaalia Hillsman (196-1996, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 20 points. At the losing side American-North Macedonian forward Merritt Hempe (190-1994, college: Georgia) responded with 18 points and French Ornella Bankole (181-1997) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Zaragoza players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
