There was a minor upset when 4th placed Sodertalje Kings (10-11) lost at home to sixth ranked Umea (9-12) 98-84 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 59-40 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Umea dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Sodertalje Kings' 28. It was a good game for American point guard Eric Gilchrese (183-87, college: New Hampshire) who led his team to a victory with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and 7 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Arik Smith (185-93, college: Cal Lutheran) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Gilchrese is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Point guard Valter Lindstrom (186-95) answered with 23 points and 4 assists and the former international forward Alexander Lindqvist (205-91, agency: Interperformances) added 21 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in the effort for Sodertalje Kings. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Umea maintains sixth place with 9-12 record. Sodertalje Kings at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Umea are looking forward to face league's second-placed Norrkoping Dolphins at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sodertalje Kings will play against the league's leader BC Lulea and are hoping to win this game.
