Very expected game when 11th rankedEdirne (7-12) was smashed by seventh ranked Burhaniye (10-9) in Balikesir 79-58 on Saturday. Burhaniye forced 21 Edirne turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Burhaniye made 9 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for Dilek Topdemir (-1992) who led the winners and scored 10 points and 8 assists. American center Shelby Cheslek (196-1992, college: Gonzaga, agency: LBM Management) accounted for 8 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side. American center Zakyia Weathersby (188-1998, college: UAB) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds and Kubra Boga (-1997) added 9 points respectively for Edirne in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Burhaniye . They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Fenerbahce G. Newly promoted Edirne keeps the eleventh position with 12 games lost.
