Very predictable result when second rankedCanakkale (23-6) smashed at home 8th ranked Mersin Secil (13-16) 82-43 on Saturday. Canakkale dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Mersin Secil 's 20. Canakkale forced 23 Mersin Secil turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Mersin Secil 's players. The best player for the winners was American center Mary Baskerville (190-2000, college: Quinnipiac) who scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Naturalized Swedish guard Maryam Gultekin (166-1990) chipped in 14 points and 8 assists. Four Canakkale players scored in double figures. Canakkale's coach Tugce Canbaz felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Kurstyn Harden (190-2000, college: SF Austin) produced 17 points and 8 rebounds and Doga Alper (-2000) added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the third consecutive win for Canakkale . Newly promoted Canakkale maintains second place with 23-6 record having six points less than leader Ferhatoglu. Mersin Secil at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eighth position with 16 games lost.
