Very important is a home loss of third rankedEfes (19-7) against fourteenth ranked Merkezefendi (9-17) on Friday night. Host Efes was edged by Merkezefendi in a tough game in Istanbul 97-100 . It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Efes. Merkezefendi made 22-of-27 charity shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Anadolu Efes was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Stefan Moody (179-1993, college: Ole Miss) notched 23 points and 9 assists to lead the effort and Belgian Hans Vanwijn (207-1995) supported him with 21 points. Even 24 points and 6 rebounds by Nigerian-American Jordan Nwora (203-1998, college: Louisville) did not help to save the game for Anadolu Efes . American center Daniel Oturu (208-1999, college: Minnesota) added 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Efes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Merkezefendi moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Darussafaka and Petkim. Anadolu Efes at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost.
