Regular Season Round 8: Erokspor - Fenerbahce 40-106

Bottom-ranked Erokspor (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 106-40 loss to ninth ranked Fenerbahce (4-5) in Istanbul on Saturday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Erokspor's 24. Fenerbahce forced 28 Erokspor turnovers and outrebounded them 61-20 including a 26-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Fenerbahce looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Erokspor's players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Doruk Yanci (193-2008) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 5 rebounds and guard Omer Sik (190-2009) who added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Four Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. Forward Berk Ustundag (190-2008) responded with 12 points and Eymen Vergili scored 12 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fenerbahce maintains ninth position with 4-5 record, which they share with Manisa. Loser Erokspor still closes the standings with eight games lost. Fenerbahce will meet at home higher ranked Bursaspor (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Erokspor's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Galatasaray.
