Regular Season Round 26: Kremen - Khimik 68-96

Superleague top team - Khimik (19-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Kremen (7-16) in Kremenchuk 96-68. Kremen was ahead by 7 points at the halftime before a 63-28 second half run of Khimik. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Kremen to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Kremen's 28. They outrebounded Kremen 46-27 including 16 on the offensive glass. American point guard Jaime Smith (190-89, college: Al.-Huntsville) notched 22 points to lead the effort and international power forward Viacheslav Petrov (204-94, agency: AproK Sports Group) supported him with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Khimik's coach Vitali Stepanovski felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 10 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists by guard Alexey Chigrinov (189-89, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) did not help to save the game for Kremen. Azerbaijani Amil Hamzayev (204-90, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 15 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Four Khimik and five Kremen players scored in double figures. Khimik have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 19-2 record. Kremen lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 16 games lost. Khimik will play against Mykolaiv (#7) in Mykolaiv in the next round where they are favorite. Kremen will have a break next round.
