Regular Season Round 7: Gigantes - Toros 96-94

A very interesting game took place in Puerto Ordaz. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Toros (3-7) to second ranked Gigantes (6-4) 96-94 on Sunday evening. Gigantes made 19-of-21 charity shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds. American guard Ricky Tarrant (188-93, college: Memphis) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. American-Peruvian point guard Kyle Fuller (185-92, college: Vanderbilt) answered with 25 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Dominican guard Kelvin Pena (193-80, college: Southeastern CC) added 16 points and 4 assists in the effort for Toros. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Toros' coach Ivan Garcia tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Gigantes maintains second place with 6-4 record having eleven points less than leader Bucaneros. Toros at the other side keep the fifth position with seven games lost. Gigantes' next round opponent will be Gaiteros (#3) in Maracaibo, which may be the game of the day. Toros will play at home against Guaiqueries and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
