Regular Season Round 11: Guaros - Gigantes 101-85

There was a small surprise in Barquisimeto where third ranked Guaros (10-8) defeated 3rd placed Gigantes (10-10) 101-85 on Saturday. Guaros shot 66.7 percent from the field. Guaros had a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. Guaros looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Gigantes' players. It was a great evening for American Lazar Hayward (225-86, college: Marquette) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 7 rebounds. International point guard Heissler Guillent (186-86) helped adding 11 points and 12 assists. American Quinnel Brown (198-83, college: Auburn) responded with 27 points and the former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Five Guaros and four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Guaros have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains third place with 10-8 record having eight points less than leader Guaiqueries which they share with defeated Gigantes. Gigantes lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third position with ten games lost. Guaros will face league's leader Guaiqueries in Porlamar in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gigantes will play on the road against Marinos in Puerto La Cruz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
