Regular Season Round 14: Marinos - Trotamundos 77-79

Fourth-ranked Marinos (10-12) made lots of trouble for second ranked Trotamundos (16-10) in Puerto La Cruz. The visitors from Valencia managed to secure only two-point victory 79-77. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Marinos. Trotamundos forced 19 Marinos turnovers. American forward Ricardo Powell (199-83, college: S.Carolina) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 5 assists. The former international point guard David Cubillan (181-87, college: Marquette, agency: Pro Sports) contributed with 7 points and 8 assists for the winners. American point guard Isaiah Swann (188-85, college: Florida St.) replied with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international forward Juan Herrera (197-81) added 16 points in the effort for Marinos. Five Marinos players scored in double figures. Marinos' coach Tony Ruiz tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Trotamundos used an opportunity after Guaiqueries lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Marinos at the other side keep the fourth place with 12 games lost. Trotamundos will play against league's second-placed Bucaneros in La Guaira in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Marinos will play on the road against Guaros in Barquisimeto and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
