There was no surprise when 7th ranked MontenegrinPodgorica (2-4) was crushed at home by fifth ranked Slovenian Maribor (4-2) 62-39 on Saturday. Maribor dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Podgorica 's 14. Maribor forced 30 Podgorica turnovers and outrebounded them 40-18 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Jelena Grujic stepped up and scored 11 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Aneja Stojko chipped in 9 points and 4 assists. Milena Vujovic responded with 15 points and 4 steals and American guard Kiara Jackson (170-2003, college: UNLV) scored 3 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Maribor have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Ilrija and Kriva Palanka. Podgorica lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with four games lost.
