Outlook:
Surprise power forward / center who put up big scoring numbers his rookie season, best move is quick turnaround jump shot / from low / medium / high post. Will drop step and power move on both sides, good passer out of the double-team, good post versus zones. Plays defensive center better than forward / uses size, position, and smarts to defend. Good rebounder on both ends, with fitness and polish, a good find because he can score and young
The big fella is in the house! The man-child earned an invitation to the 1998 Fila/ABC All-Star Extravaganza by exploding for 25 points and 15 rebounds at the 1997 All-Star Game. Against Korea, no less! He went head-to-head with S.Korea phenom Seo Jang-hoon and did some business. He led the ABC All-Stars in points and rebounds. Zaid's big body gives him an advantage over most 4s in Asia, and his ability to maneuver and finish round him out as one of the top young players around, especially in his region. He really can maneuver for his size, and he understands the importance of passing out of the post as well, something he undoubtedly learned in the States. A true team player, Zaid can shoot it from near 20' when left open. His effectiveness is enhanced when he is screening, because of his size and because he understands where to go after he screens. This is a lost art, and Zaid is learning. As far as a repertoire, the youngster has a nice up&under, an effective dropstep spin move into the middle, and a decent turnaround, as well as the aforementioned jumpshot. The one thing he must master is finishing, but as he gets stronger, this will not be too tough. Finally, his rebounding is stellar, as he topped the field in Korea.
