Outlook:
Mirko is a terrific athlete with great coordination and speed for his height. Long arms, nice build and great shooting touch from the outside make him the most similar to Dirk Nowitzki. However, he has had problems with the injuries and that slowed down his development. In the second half of last season he started getting quality minutes and started showing his great potential. Plays facing the basket most of the time, but can take his man 1-1 in the low post. Has solid turnaround jump shot, especially from the left block. Most effective on pick-and-pop plays when he spots up at the 3-point line where he is lethal from. When he is on the top of his game, can make spectacular plays, like dunking on several defenders. Runs the floor very well, gets out on the break every time. Defense is where his game needs most improvement. Since he spent most of his early professional days at the weight of less than 90 kg, he was not a good contact player, needing to improve his defense 1-1 back to the basket. He can step out on the perimeter to close the pick-and-roll plays, or penetration to the middle due to solid footwork. Now, with added weight especially in his upper body, he appears prepared physically to be a tough post defender. Great personality, gets along with his teammates and coaches. Left good impression in all the clubs that he played for.Works hard at the practices and games.
