Canada's women won the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup on Sunday, beating the defending champion United States 21-12 in the final, and Michelle Plouffe (193-F-1992, college: Utah) was named the most valuable player. It was Canada's third women's AmeriCup title and the first since 2024.
Canada's progress through the knockout rounds was never in much doubt. They beat Chile 18-10 in the quarter-final, Colombia 21-11 in the semi-final and the United States by nine in the final, and Plouffe scored 8, 11 and 9 points in those three games. She finished first in total points with 41 and in player value at 49.8, made 23 one-pointers and took 12 offensive rebounds, both the most of any player, and had three blocks, the third-highest total. Paige Crozon (185-G-1994, college: Utah, agency: LBM Management) provided the finishing touch in the final.
Colombia took third place with a 15-12 win over Cuba in the bronze-medal game, the country's first top-three finish at the tournament. Yuliany Paz (195-C-2000) scored nine points and took nine rebounds in that game. Colombia's campaign began in the Qualifying Draw. Paz was named to the Team of the Tournament with Plouffe and the United States' Sydney Taylor (175-G-2001, college: Louisville).
The United States finished second, and Cuba were fourth. Argentina were fifth, Paraguay sixth, El Salvador seventh and Chile eighth. El Salvador will host the 2027 tournament.
