Partizan wins fifth straight title - Apr 22, 2011

Union Olimpija - Partizan 74-77

Partizan continues to dominate in the regional championship. The Serbian powerhouse was better than Olimpija in Adriatic League Finals 74-77 wining the fifth straight title. Curtis Jerrells (185-G-87, college: Baylor) was the leading scorer in victory with 20 points. James Gist (203-F-86) helped with 12 pts, while Dusan Kecman (197-F-77, agency: Beo Basket) added 11 points and 5 boards. In the loosing squad, Vlado Ilievski (190-G-80, agency: World Sport Agency) delivered 15 points. Goran Jagodnik (203-F-74, agency: Beo Basket) (7 boards) and Samo Udrih (195-G-79) stopped to 11 pts each. Union Olimpija was the host of the Final Four Tournament. Partizan grabbed 11-15 lead at the halfway of the first period and later jumped to 25-32 in 14th minute. Olimpija improved until the halftime and managed to close the gap to 39-43. However, Partizan controlled rhythm of the game in Q3 and later ended it with nice 58-65 lead. The hosts didnt give up and they came to 74-72 in the finish, but Curtis Jerrells made three free throws until the end, while Onlimpija got just one basket from their players and it was a layup by Ilievski. Their last possession in the game ended with turnover.
Partizan was the regular season champion in Adriatic league with 18-8 record. They eliminated Buducnost in the Semis and handed 74-77 loss to Olimpija in the Finals to win their fifth straight title. Partizan already won the Serbian Cup recently, so it's their second trophy this season.
