Trice's buzzer-beating layup seals historic ABA League 2 title for Siroki as they return to top flight after 12 years-Apr 29, 2026
D'Mitrik Trice (183-PG-1996, college: Wisconsin, agency: Diamond Sports) scored the go-ahead basket with four seconds remaining as Siroki TT Kabeli edged TFT Skopje 87-86 on the road in Game 2 of the ABA League 2 Finals on Wednesday, completing a 2-0 series sweep to claim their first-ever ABA League 2 championship and earn promotion to the AdmiralBet ABA League for the first time since the 2013-14 season. Trice was sensational throughout, finishing with 32 points on blistering 6-of-10 three-point shooting to go with four rebounds, four assists, and a steal — a performance that earned him the Playoffs MVP award. He averaged 20.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists across the entire playoff run. The Bosnian-Herzegovinian club had to do it the hard way. TFT Skopje's home crowd at Gradski Park Sports Hall roared their side to an early lead, and the hosts took an eight-point advantage into halftime at 43-35 behind Darrin Govens (185-PG-1988, college: St.Joseph's)' 23-point, eight-assist masterclass (5-of-7 from two, 4-of-7 from three) and Stanley Davis Jr. (196-G-1998, college: Morgan St.)'s 19 points and six assists. But Siroki, just as they had done in Game 1, refused to buckle. A dominant 24-18 third quarter brought the visitors within two at 59-61, and the fourth quarter became a white-knuckle affair. The teams traded blows throughout the final 10 minutes, with R. Somerville's perfect 7-of-7 inside shooting and Viktor Tashovski (182-PG-2001)'s 18 points keeping TFT in front. Skopje entered the final nine seconds leading 86-85, but Trice — who had already torched the hosts from deep all night — drove to the basket and scored the decisive two-pointer with four seconds left to put Siroki ahead 87-86. Justin Gordon (198-F-1993, college: Wofford)'s desperation three-pointer at the buzzer for TFT missed, and the celebrations began. Matej Bosnjak (204-C-2002, college: Wichita St.) was Trice's most important ally, posting 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds along with five assists in a tireless 38-minute shift. Dominik Vujanovic (182-G-2003) added 14 points (4-of-6 from three) off the bench, while Miha Skedelj (201-SF-1999) contributed 10 and Jalyn McCreary (203-F-2000, college: Mercer, agency: 011 Sports) had 10 points with eight rebounds. The championship caps a dominant campaign for Siroki, who finished first in the regular season before sweeping through the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals without dropping a single game in the playoffs. Their return to the ABA League top flight after 12 years is a remarkable achievement for the club from Siroki Brijeg, who will compete alongside the region's elite in 2026-27.
