Superliga Round 5 of Regular Season

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most shocking disappointment of round 5 in the Superliga was a home defeat of 4th placed Studenti (2-3) to fifth ranked Vllaznia (3-2) 57-52 in the game for the fourth place. Vllaznia forced 27 Studenti turnovers. Strangely Studenti outrebounded Vllaznia 45-27 including 17 on the offensive glass. Bernada Rreshpja (-2001) stepped up and scored 31 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and the former international forward Ingrit Dashja (178-1993) chipped in 2 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 7 steals. International Marina Pellumbi (168-2002) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Vllaznia moved-up to fourth place. Studenti at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Vllaznia are looking forward to face league's second-placed Tirana at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Studenti's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tirana Berleti.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Tirana: Partizani (#3) and Berleti (#8). Berleti was crushed at home by 89 points 25-114 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. American center Emma Fee (185-1999, college: Winona St.) nailed 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Ornela Lalaj accounted for 14 points and 15 rebounds. Partizani's coach Erta Bujari felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Emi Skuqi (-2001) came up with 4 points and 6 rebounds for Berleti in the defeat. Partizani have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Tirana. Berleti at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Partizani will play against league's leader Flamurtari in Vlore in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Berleti's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tirana to the arena Studenti.

Flamurtari will meet Partizani (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Teuta will play against Elbasani and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 5 Elbasani was destroyed by Tirana on the opponent's court 98-53.

Teuta - Flamurtari 56-63

Superliga top team - Flamurtari (5-0) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat sixth ranked Teuta (1-4) 63-56. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was center Asia Henderson (190, college: UNCW) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds. Point guard Karon Williams (163-2000, college: St.Mary's, MD, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Williams is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Flamurtari players scored in double figures. Center ALexxus Davis (188-1996, college: USC Upstate) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and guard Imani Dixon (178-1993) added 10 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Tirana - Elbasani 98-53

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Elbasani (1-4) was crushed on the road by third ranked Tirana (4-1) 98-53 on Friday. Tirana dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Elbasani's 40. They outrebounded Elbasani 58-30 including a 40-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tirana looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Elbasani's players. The best player for the winners was Emily Tershalla (164-2007) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 19 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. Center Luna Luca (180-2006) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Five Tirana players scored in double figures. Point guard Dea Sali (166-2004) produced 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and Afori Zyba (-2004) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Tirana. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Partizani. Elbasani lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Teuta. Tirana will meet Vllaznia (#4) in the next round. Elbasani will play against Teuta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
