The biggest surprise of round 6 in Superliga was guest Teuta's (2-4) easy road victory over 6th ranked Elbasani (1-5) 81-40 on Friday evening. Teuta forced 24 Elbasani turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including 32 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Ebi Dishnica (182-1997) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. American center ALexxus Davis (188-1996, college: USC Upstate) chipped in 14 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Teuta's coach Besim Dervishaj felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Sidorela Zenuni (-1995) who recorded 23 points and 8 rebounds. Teuta moved-up to sixth place. Elbasani lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Teuta are looking forward to face higher ranked Partizani (#3) in Tirana in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Elbasani will play at home against Vllaznia (#4) and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Tirana. Top-ranked Flamurtari (6-0) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 3rd ranked Partizani (4-2) 63-62 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Partizani. It was a good game for American point guard Karon Williams (163-2000, college: St.Mary's, MD, agency: Interperformances) who saved her team from a defeat with 15 points and 7 assists. Selena Kirberg contributed with 12 points for the winners. The former international point guard Ornela Lalaj (173-1994) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds for Partizani. Undefeated Flamurtari have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 6-0 record. Partizani at the other side keeps the third place with two games lost. Flamurtari will play against Studenti (#5) in Tirana in the next round. Partizani will play against Teuta and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tirana: Studenti (#5) and Berleti (#8). Studenti (3-3) smashed visiting Berleti (0-6) by 43 points 71-28. Marina Pellumbi had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists and 8 steals to lead the charge for the winners. The best for the losing side was Sibora Kelleci with 7 points and 7 rebounds. Studenti moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Vllaznia. Loser Berleti still closes the standings with six games lost. Studenti will meet league's leader Flamurtari in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Berleti's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tirana to the arena Tirana.
