The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Bayern Muenchen (27-2) in Paderborn on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by seventh ranked Webmoebel Baskets (15-14) 84-82. It ended at the same time the 22-game winning streak of Bayern Muenchen. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 26-18 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Forward Ben Spoeler (206-88) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and American guard Kejuan Johnson (193-85, college: Long Beach St.) chipped in 14 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. American power forward Darius Hall (201-73, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Stanley International) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard Jonathan Wallace (187-86, college: Georgetown, agency: Pro One Sports) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Five Webmoebel Baskets and four Bayern Muenchen players scored in double figures. Bayern Muenchen's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Webmoebel Baskets moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Crailsheim and Kirchheim. Bayern Muenchen at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Webmoebel Baskets is looking forward to face higher ranked GiroLive-Ballers (#4) in Osnabrueck in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayern Muenchen will play at home against USC Freiburg and is hoping to win this game.
