There was a surprise result in Weissenfels where sixteenth ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (5-8) beat higher ranked Artland Dragons (7-5) 87-83 on Saturday. Mitteldeutscher BC made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Icelandic point guard Hoerdur Vilhjalmsson (190-88) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Chad Timberlake (194-84, college: Fair Dickinson) who added 18 points during the contest. Mitteldeutscher BC's coach Silvano Poropat used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Cape Verdean-American forward Ryan Gomes (201-82, college: Providence) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Marquez Haynes (191-86, college: Texas Arlington) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mitteldeutscher BC have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifteenth place. Loser Artland Dragons dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Mitteldeutscher BC will have a break next round.
