Regular Season Round 12: Dragons - Dresden 100-63

Date: December 13, 2013
Very important is a road loss of first ranked Dresden (10-2) against fifth ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (6-6) on Friday night. Visiting Dresden was crushed by Dragons Rhoendorf in Rhoendorf 100-63. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Dresden. The game without a history. Dragons Rhoendorf led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Dresden to just 7 points in second quarter. The winners were led by swingman Tim Schonborn (191-90) who scored that evening 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Fabian Thuelig (199-89) supported him with 17 points. Five Dragons Rhoendorf players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by American Andrew Jones (191-83, college: Miles) did not help to save the game for Dresden. Center Alexander Heide (206-91) added 8 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Dragons Rhoendorf moved-up to fourth place in Group South, which they share with Noerdlingen and Licher Baeren. Loser Dresden still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with Hanau. Dragons Rhoendorf will meet Licher Baeren (#6) on the road in the next round. Dresden will play against USC Leipzig (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
