There was no surprise in Izmir where 9th ranked Gelism (12-12) was defeated by seventh ranked Akhisar Bld (14-10) 80-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Akhisar Bld. Gelism was better in third quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Akhisar Bld had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American point guard Nic Wise (178-87, college: Arizona) who scored 29 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. The other American import forward Darrius Morrow (203-90, college: E.Carolina, agency: Three Eye Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Sertay Gursu (195-87) who recorded 23 points and 6 rebounds and Canadian power forward Ryan Wright (206-87, college: Oklahoma) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Four Gelism players scored in double figures. Akhisar Bld maintains seventh position with 14-10 record. Gelism lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 12 games lost. Akhisar Bld will face league's second-placed Yesilgiresun in Giresun in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Gelism will play on the road against Istanbul B.B. (#6) and hope to win that game.
