Regular Season Round 4: Ludwigsburg - Crailsheim 91-80
Date: October 12, 2014
Very predictable result when ninth ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (2-2) won against at home bottom-ranked Crailsheim Merlins (0-4) 91-80 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by EnBW Ludwigsburg. Crailsheim Merlins was better in second period 25-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. EnBW Ludwigsburg dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Crailsheim Merlins' 30. It was a very good performance for American point guard Kerron Johnson (185-90, college: Belmont) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Finnish Shawn Huff (198-84, college: Valparaiso) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Josten Crow (193-87, college: Sam Houston St.) replied with 26 points and 4 assists and his fellow American import point guard Garrett Sim (185-90, college: Oregon) added 14 points and 4 assists in the effort for Crailsheim Merlins. Five EnBW Ludwigsburg and four Crailsheim Merlins players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. EnBW Ludwigsburg moved-up to eighth place, which they share with TBB Trier and Ratiopharm. Loser Crailsheim Merlins still closes the standings with four games lost. EnBW Ludwigsburg will face ratiopharm Ulm (#9) on the road in the next round. Crailsheim Merlins will play against the league's leader ALBA Berlin (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
