There was a minor upset when 11th ranked BBC Bayreuth (1-3) lost on the road to thirteenth ranked Braunschweig (2-3) 88-80 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-17. But BBC Bayreuth won third quarter 28-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Braunschweig made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. American point guard Dru Joyce (183-85, college: Akron, agency: LUMANI 10.7) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import center Kyle Visser (211-85, college: Wake Forest) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American-Puerto Rican point guard TreVon Hughes (184-87, college: Wisconsin) answered with 17 points and 4 assists and American forward Javon McCrea (201-92, college: Buffalo) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for BBC Bayreuth. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. BBC Bayreuth's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Braunschweig moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams. BBC Bayreuth lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fourteenth position with three games lost. Braunschweig will face bottom-ranked Walter Tigers (#18) in Tuebingen in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BBC Bayreuth will play at home against Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
