Regular Season Round 12: Zalgiris - Lietkabelis 91-83

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Zalgiris as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Zalgiris defeated 9th ranked Lietkabelis in Kaunas 91-83. Lietkabelis was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Zalgiris looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American James Anderson (198-89, college: Oklahoma St.) who scored 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. point guard Lukas Lekavicius (180-94) chipped in 21 points and 5 assists. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Zalgiris' coach Gintaras Krapikas used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Vytenis Cizauskas (188-92) who recorded 25 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and Russian center Ivan Nelyubov (207-88) added 14 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Zalgiris (9-1) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Lietuvos rytas. Lietkabelis lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with seven games lost. Lietkabelis will play next round against strong Neptunas trying to get back on the winning streak. Zalgiris will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Tonybet in Prienai.
