Regular Season Round 18: Vilniaus - Perlas-MRU 89-92

Thirteenth-ranked Vilniaus (4-12) made lots of trouble for second ranked Perlas-MRU (14-4) in Vilnius on Saturday. The visitors managed to secure only three-point victory 92-89. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 48-42 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Perlas-MRU made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Vilniaus helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Antanas Udras (203-92) who scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Remigijus Sugintas (200-87) chipped in 18 points. Five Perlas-MRU players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jermaine Love-Roberts (188-89, college: Ill.-Springfield) who recorded 22 points and 5 rebounds and forward Ignas Dauksys (197-93) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Perlas-MRU have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Ezerunas-Karys. Vilniaus lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth place with 12 games lost. Perlas-MRU is looking forward to face bottom-ranked JAZZ-Diremta (#14) in Kaunas in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Vilniaus will play at home against Zanavykas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
