Regular Season Round 14: Bayer Giants - Baunach 63-94

The game between closely ranked teams ended with thirteenth ranked Baunach's (6-8) road victory over 14th ranked Bayer Giants (4-10) in Leverkusen 94-63 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Baunach. Bayer Giants was better in fourth quarter 25-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Baunach dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Bayer Giants' 24 and had 29 for 42 from the free-throw line, while Bayer Giants only scored twelve points from the stripe. Bayer Giants were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Marcos Knight (188-89, college: Middle Tenn.St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). The other American import forward Anthony Lee-Ingram (195-88, college: Brescia, KY) contributed with 24 points and 4 steals for the winners. American point guard Richard Carter (180-92, college: Drake) replied with 17 points and 4 assists and Canadian point guard Willy Manigat (180-87) added 16 points in the effort for Bayer Giants. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Baunach moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Bayer Giants keep the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Baunach will face higher ranked Nuernberg (#4) in Nurnberg in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Bayer Giants will play at home against MLP Academics Heidelberg (#8) and hope to win that game.
