Regular Season Round 15: Gelisim - Adanaspor 86-93

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Izmir where 7th ranked Gelisim (8-7) was defeated by eighth ranked Adanaspor (8-7) 93-86 on Saturday. Gelisim was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Adanaspor looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Jeremy Ingram (190-92, college: N.C.Central) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 7 assists. Forward Kerem Ozkan (201-88) helped adding 20 points and 7 rebounds. Adanaspor's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American center Marvin Jefferson (206-86, college: Idaho) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import point guard Derek Williams (185-85, college: SMU) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Four Adanaspor and five Gelisim players scored in double figures. Adanaspor moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Gelisim. Gelisim lost their third game in a row. Adanaspor will meet at home higher ranked Sakarya BSB (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gelisim will play against the league's second-placed Buyukcekmece and hope to secure a win.
