Regular Season Round 16: Heidelberg - Baunach 92-85

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Baunach (7-9) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (10-6) 92-85 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-15. But Baunach won second period 26-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. MLP Academics Heidelberg made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for MLP Academics Heidelberg especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Kelvin Martin (195-89, college: Charleston So.) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and John Eggleston (203-88, college: Pennsylvania) who added 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five MLP Academics Heidelberg players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Marcos Knight (188-89, college: Middle Tenn.St.) responded with 22 points and forward Anthony Lee-Ingram (195-88, college: Brescia, KY) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. MLP Academics Heidelberg have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Baunach keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with Jena and Kirchheim. MLP Academics Heidelberg will meet at home Bayer Giants (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Baunach will play against the league's leader s Oliver Baskets (#1) and hope to secure a win.
