Regular Season Round 19: Baunach - Bayer Giants 77-71

The game between closely ranked teams ended with twelfth ranked Baunach's (8-11) home victory over 13th ranked Bayer Giants (6-13) 77-71 on Saturday. Baunach dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Bayer Giants' 22. It was a great evening for American guard Marcos Knight (188-89, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 6 rebounds. Johannes Thiemann (203-94) helped adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. Baunach's coach Ivan Pavic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American power forward Jake Koch (206-90, college: N.Iowa) responded with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Ben Spoeler (206-88) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Four Bayer Giants players scored in double figures. Baunach moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Bayer Giants keep the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Finke Baskets. Baunach will meet BV Chemnitz 99 (#12) on the road in the next round. Bayer Giants will play against Cuxhaven BasCats and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
