Regular Season Round 20: Chemnitz - Baunach 84-79

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when twelfth ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (8-12) won against at home 11th ranked Baunach (8-12) 84-79 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Baunach won third quarter 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BV Chemnitz 99 made 28-of-36 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Baunach was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Virgil Matthews (188-83, college: Montana, agency: Court Side) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. The other American import Alex Osborne (203-91, college: Loyola Mary, agency: SDJ Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Steffen Hamann (195-81, agency: LUMANI 10.7) replied with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and American forward Anthony Lee-Ingram (195-88, college: Brescia, KY) added 21 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Baunach. Five BV Chemnitz 99 and four Baunach players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. BV Chemnitz 99 moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with defeated Baunach. BV Chemnitz 99 will face higher ranked Science City Jena (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
